At City Seafood, we believe great meals start with great ingredients — and nothing beats the taste of fresh, high-quality seafood grilled to perfection. One of our absolute favorites this time of year? Grilled Tuna Steaks.

Tuna is a fantastic choice for grilling. It’s lean, protein-rich, and has a meaty texture that even steak lovers can appreciate. Whether you’re cooking for the family, entertaining guests, or simply treating yourself to a healthy dinner, this recipe is flavorful, quick, and sure to impress.

Let’s dive in!

🌊 Why Grilled Tuna?

Tuna steaks are firm and hearty, making them perfect for the grill. They absorb marinades beautifully, cook in just minutes, and offer a satisfying bite without being heavy. Best of all, they pair well with everything from tropical salsas to simple side salads.

And when you order your tuna from City Seafood, you know you’re getting the freshest catch — responsibly sourced and packed with flavor.

🍋 Grilled Tuna Steak with Garlic-Lemon Marinade

Ingredients:

  • 2 fresh tuna steaks (about 6 oz each, 1-inch thick)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or lime for a tropical twist)

  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

  • Optional garnish: fresh parsley, sesame seeds, lemon wedges

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper.

  2. Marinate the Tuna
Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the tuna, making sure it’s well coated. Let it marinate in the fridge for 15 to 30 minutes, but no longer — lemon juice can start "cooking" the fish if left too long.

  3. Preheat Your Grill
Heat your grill (or grill pan) to medium-high. Oil the grates to prevent sticking.

  4. Grill the Tuna
Remove the tuna from the marinade and place it directly on the grill. For medium-rare, cook for about 2 minutes per side. For more well-done, grill 3–4 minutes per side, depending on thickness.

  5. Serve & Enjoy
Remove from heat and let rest for 2–3 minutes. Garnish with parsley, sesame seeds, or a squeeze of lemon. Serve with a light salad, grilled veggies, or rice pilaf.

🐟 Tips from the City Seafood Team

  • Fresh is best: We recommend grilling tuna within 24 hours of purchase for peak flavor.

  • Don’t overcook: Tuna dries out easily — keep an eye on it and aim for a slightly pink center.

  • Want bold flavor? Add a pinch of chili flakes or a dash of wasabi to the marinade for a spicy edge.
